Bring your class to Northlands and become Explorers of Farmfair to give students experiences that will develop an understanding of agriculture. There is a one-day experience for students in Grades 1-4 with a choice of dates - Mon Nov 3, Tues Nov 4 or Wed Nov 5. The popularity of this program means a maximum of 2 classes/school will be accepted. Registrations for special needs, home school groups and kindergarten groups will be accepted for Thurs. Nov. 6. ESL groups and early education classes will be accepted Fri. Nov. 7. Click the button below to register.
Farmfair is a learning rich environment – full of the sights, sounds and smells of agriculture, an important Alberta industry. This opportunity requires pre-registration and commitment to a teacher information session. Admission to Farmfair 2013 will be free for students and adults facilitating learning for the group (teachers and volunteers). Transportation costs are the responsibility of the class.
What the Day Will Look Like:
Classes must plan to be at the Edmonton EXPO Centre from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the day they register to come.
Busses arrive at north end of EXPO Centre to drop off students. Northlands volunteers will meet busses and bring classes into the rooms where classes will organize themselves for the day. Armed with activity booklets will spend the day exploring what Farmfair has to offer.
Classes will receive a detailed plan for their activities to ensure efficient use of time and avoid crowding at program stops as they travel with their group to take part in these activities. The day will include an opportunity observe and compare cattle, and Edmonton Kubota Hall activities such as the Ranch Horse Competition, Stock Dog Competition, or Equine Clinicians. Classes will also have the opportunity to see live animals in Hall A and observe a horse demo and interview Farmfair participants.
At lunch, classes will return to their tables in 301/302 to eat. After lunch, classes will continue activities for the second half of the day.
At 2:30 p.m. students and teachers will board their busses to return to school.
