We’re proud to host a daylong visit to three Alberta beef producers on Monday, November 9th. International guests can explore Canadian operations firsthand, meet Alberta producers, and ask questions.

MJT Cattle Company

(Edgerton, Alberta)

MJT Cattle Company is a family-run operation near Edgerton in eastern Alberta which over 80 years has become one of Canada’s leading purebred seedstock operations. MJT’s program centers on Angus, Hereford, and Charolais genetics. MJT takes great pride in raising cattle that not only meet the highest breed standards, but also perform in real-world ranch conditions. They supply elite herd sires, embryo and semen opportunities, and proven females.

Rancier Farms (Killam, Alberta)

Rancier Farms is a fourth-generation farm in the Killam area centered around a black-based cow herd of black and red purebred and percentage Simmental cows. Their extensive embryo transplant program has enabled them to build an elite herd marketed at spring and fall sales. Bulls, females, semen, and embryos are also sold privately. Rancier Farms shines in the show ring, winning at Farmfair International--Champion Bull & Female in 2008, and Champion Females in 2010 and 2014.

Golden View Cattle Company (Smoky Lake County, Alberta)

J.E.T. Farms is a mixed operation NE of Edmonton in the County of Smoky Lake. They run 4500 acres of crop, hay and native pasture, background 4500 head, and custom feed. They also run 380 mixed commercial cows along with 115 purebred Shorthorns and Simmentals. Raising purebreds is a new venture for Golden View.  They tried out seven different breeds, but Shorthorns always stood out for their calm nature and high fertility. Their background in commercial cattle has given them skills to succeed as purebred breeders.
