BJ Fuchs

BJ Fuchs is a fourth-generation rancher, husband, father, and grandfather who represents the resilience and adaptability shared by many Canadian farmers and ranchers. Like many in the industry, BJ worked off the ranch for years to support his passion for agriculture. With 23 years in the oil and gas sector, he gained valuable skills and experience that he later brought back to his ranching operation.

Today, BJ and his family run a diversified operation that includes both a cow/calf ranch in the foothills where livestock thrive with a rotational grazing program and ample natural water supply along with an equine ranch near Mayerthorpe, offering performance horse boarding and care, riding and roping lessons. They also host events such as ranch rodeos and barrel racing competitions.

Never one to shy away from innovation, BJ has consistently explored new ideas and opportunities. In the early 2000s, he developed SOS – Safety On Site, a product designed to support remote workers in the oil and gas industry.

BJ partnered with his daughter Skyler in 2022 to launch Business Wide View.  Created by farmers and ranchers for the agriculture community, the company focuses on validating emerging technologies and practices to help bring practical ag solutions to market faster. By connecting innovators with real producer feedback, BJ and his team are helping ensure that new technologies truly meet the needs of modern farmers and ranchers.

Built by Ranchers, Powered by Tech - Carving Out Your Opportunity in Modern Ag

Are you ready to carve out a profitable, high-tech future on the family ranch? Built by ranchers for ranchers, BWV knows that the next generation of agriculture relies on strong collaboration, an entrepreneurial mindset, and adopting cutting-edge tools. In this session, we'll explore how young producers can transform traditional operations by "borrowing" proven technologies from heavy industries like oil and gas to make daily work easier and more lucrative. We will dive into exciting, real-world innovations happening right now—including our work on an AI Dashboard for Soil Health and Pasture Management with the University of Alberta, and Carbon Water Field Testing alongside BioAgtive Emission Farming. Beyond the pasture, we'll discuss how we are actively building trade relationships across Canadian and international markets to drive genetic improvements and accelerate the adoption of new agtech. Join us to learn how to view your farm as a dynamic asset, pioneer fresh ideas, and build a sustainable legacy you'll be excited to lead.
