About the Session:
For livestock producers, the quality and cost of feed begins long before it reaches the animal. It starts with the health and biological function of the soil and the productivity of the acres growing it.
In this session, Joshua Day Chief, CEO of AdvancedAg, will explore how soil and plant biology influence forage productivity, nutrient efficiency, stand longevity, and feed quality. He will look at why established hay fields, pasture, and marginal acres can lose productivity, and what can be done at the field level to bring more value back to those acres.
Drawing from field research, independent trials, agronomist observations, and commercial farm results, Joshua will share data from established forage, native grass, and crop production, including measured changes in plant nutrition, crude protein, and productivity. He will also explore the economics behind extending the productive life of established forage stands and producing more, or better quality, feed from the acres producers already have.
